I'm having a blast here in Austin so far! It's been in the 80's, and I've been having some amazing shows and seeing some great music. Tuesday night I spent my St. Patty's Day playing at my favorite cajun restaurant, the Evangeline Cafe. Some great bands played before me, Brennen Leigh and her band, and a great blues duo Kevin Gallaugher and Greg Anderson. The food at this place is amazing!!!
Wednesday we wandered around the festival, saw some bands, and then spent the afternoon at Maria's Taco Xpress, where my second gig would be as part of LeeAnn Atherton's Traveling Barn Dance Women's review. This funky taco joint had an outdoor stage, and the weather was great. I took some pics of the other bands that played: LeeAnn Atherton's blues band (what a voice!), Katzenjammer - all-girl punky viking gypsy bluegrass from Norway, and Baskery - anther all-girl band - 3 sisters from Sweden playing edgy Americana.
